The Royal Ascot is a series of horse races, yes, but it’s also so much more than that. It’s when the Queen shows off her sporty side, the royals have a family reunion, and British society comes out to play. And play they do! Some hats are simple and avant-garde, others are wild floral crowns fit for an English Coachella, while others are a little confusing. (Is that a hat made of … other hats?) No better way to celebrate an age-old event than with a little one-upmanship.
